Tyler made the ballroom team at Mountain View. He is really excited. Tryouts were last week but he was home all week sick with tonsillitis (we think). I emailed the ballroom teacher and he agreed to let Tyler tryout yesterday morning. He posted the results this morning. Tyler took a picture of his name on his phone. He and grandma came down to Provo and we all went to lunch to celebrate.
No pictures - I sent my camera in to Nikon so it could be repaired but no idea how long it is going to take.

Donating Blood/Sick
I got a call from the Red Cross last Friday asking if I would donate at Zions Banks blood drive on Monday. They call me every time to donate and I always do but not once has Zions reciprocated when I have asked them to donate at my blood drive. Not only that, but they keep trying to kill me down there. I have decided I am not going back. Last time I donated down there I got really sick that night and passed out. I haven't donated since because it really freaked me out. Monday I was just barely able to donate because of my iron count. It had to be something .5 and I was .6. So the girl sticks me with the needle, which is what it is. But it kept hurting and it hurt when I tried to pump the ball. She had me just flex and unflex my fingers instead which still hurt but not as bad. Well then I kept hearing a beeping sound and my blood flow had dropped to a three. She had her supervisor come over and she pushed down on the needle. Needless to say I managed to get back up to a four but kept dropping back down and it hurt the entire time. Now I have a huge bruise on my arm and my arm still is hurting three days later.
Tyler has been home sick the last three days. On Tuesday he wasn't feeling well and felt like he was running a fever. He of course didn't eat anything and hasn't eaten since. He's probably lost 10 pounds. Tuesday night he came into my room @ 2:00 a.m. At 2:30 I went over to my parents and got some Ginger Ale. He didn't sleep much. After a couple of hours he went into the library and watched T.V. Yesterday I went home from work early because he still wasn't feeling well. He was really warm and around 3:00 p.m. I ran to the store to get a themometer. He was @ 102 degrees. I got a text from him at school last night saying he was up to 103 so I left early. He took some Advil and when I got home it had dropped back down to just over 100. This morning he is @ 100 so hopefully a sign he is getting better. He has EFY on June 1st so I'm glad he got sick now and not in a week.

Family Home Evening
Tasted the same as Jamba
Blending the smoothies
Pouring - Decided needed a spoon
Tyler eating yogurt from the containerWe made the smoothies for FHE. Tyler loves peaches so we decided to make the peach smoothie. It worked really well with the frozen peaches. Mary used canned ones at work and it didn't create the right consistency. We never buy frozen yogurt and decided it was good enough to eat on its own. Of course now I have a container of yogurt and two ice cream in the freezer. I don't know who is going to eat it all. I need to get some more orange juice so we can make more smoothies. It blended really well in our blender despite it not being a K-tech blender. We purchased a K-tech blender at work, which are the blenders Jamba uses. They are really expensive so we will just stick with our store bought blender. Tyler thought it tasted as good as Jamba Juice. I thought the consistency was the same but Jamba's are a little sweeter. Really good. You will have to give them a try.

Mother's Day

Yesterday we celebrated Mother's Day. Tyler went over and helped Mutti plant flowers. Okay, it was under protest but he did it and I think enjoyed spending time with grandma. We took her over a flower arrangement on Sunday and had a wonderful dinner of grilled steak, grilled corn (first time I have done it), roasted asparagus, roasted potatoes, and cauliflower and rolls. Needless to say we were all stuffed. Michael and grandma then decided to work on geneology so we went home and wated Made of Honor. Well, I watched it. Tyler fell asleep after a couple of minutes.
New Hair

I had my hair appointment on Saturday and had been thinking I wanted a change. The blond color I had was getting old and so was the cut. I had been thinking about an A-line cut but was undecided. I just mentioned to Penny that if she had any ideas to let me know. I was flipping through a hair magazine and Penny said she knew how I should cut it - A-line . I went with it because apparently we had both had the same thought and I love it.

Women in Philanthropy
I was invited by the lady who delivers our UPS mail at the bank to attend a luncheon for the Women in Philanthropy. The luncheon was at the Scera. They had invited Carol Weisman, an internationally recognized expert on philanthropy and author. We were each given a copy of her book Raising Charitable Children. It was really interesting and she does a great job with public speaking. The one thing that stood out to me was to ask your children what they are afraid of. I think that is a great idea and that we do not talk enough about our fears.
I don't think it is a committee I am interested in joining at the moment. I think they do a lot of great things distributing contributions and deciding on programs. First, I don't have the income to be a great philanthropist and currently I like to be more hands on at the moment in my service. We are doing a build day with Rural Housing Development Corp. next Friday. I just hope for good weather.
I volunteered at the Food Bank a couple of weeks ago because you can volunteer for an hour and don't need to sign up or anything. I thought it would be a great lunch time activity since I never know what to do for an hour since I it usually isn't worth it to drive home. I didn't realize that I would be doing service with a bunch of court appointed people. I think I was the only person there who wasn't required by the courts to do service. Scary!

Prom

Tyler had Prom on Saturday and was pretty excited. I went ahead and purchased him a tux hoping he can wear it for other dances and I will not have to rent one next year. He looked really nice and had a great time. This was the first time he was able to drive himself and guests on a date. Finally didn't need a parent to drive although he never let me do it. He always let one of his friends parents drive. The school also called to invite parents to the prom as they were having a promenade this year. See what a good mother I am - I didn't show up.
Cafe Rio

Kirsten came down with her family on Thursday for a short visit. We went to Cafe Rio for dinner, one of her favorites which isn't available in Idaho Falls. It was nice to visit with her and the kids for the short time they were here. Amy and Scott rode with me. Before we left Scott wanted a doughnut. At first I thought he shouldn't spoil his appetite but then knowing how Scott eats I figured a doughnut was better than nothing at all so he munched away. When we got to Cafe Rio he at two casadias. I was very impressed.
