Molly's

Just had lunch at Molly's, located behind Deseret Industries in Provo. It is run by Marvelous Catering, my favorite caterer in the valley. They are only open M-F from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. for lunch and if busy it can be hard to find a seat. But the food is fantastic - like having a home cooked meal. I had the lunch plate which includes one meat, two sides, and bread. There are a lot of options. I asked what the best meat selection was and the server said the turkey meatloaf. Very good along with spinach salad (one of the best) and some green beans. I didn't get a cheese scone but heard it was good. I got chocolate cheesecake cake, which I shared with somebody else. Very yummy. I was only going to eat a bite but it was so good that I finished off my half. And the homemade lemonade is great. If in Provo stop by for lunch. Well worth it.

Isn't it Cute?

This stuffed animal has been in my car since Kate passed away. A few months before she passed away my mom had cleaned out some stuffed animals and clothes from her room and I told her I would run them down to DI for her or see if Barbara wanted the clothes. I was going to check if the nursery at church wanted the stuffed animals. Then when she got so sick and passed away I was going through it and thought this little dog was really cute. I intended to give it to my niece as a momento of Kate, since they were the same age but she could not take it. So it has been sitting in my car ever since, and I decided to leave it there as a memory. Now, each day that I see it I am reminded of Kate. Barbara took the teddy bears and a rabbit back for her girls. The only thing left was a stuffed flower, which I donated. Isn't the dog cute though sitting in my car?

Office

I finally decided that I need a real study space at home. Over the years I had the TV on a desk on one end and the laptop on the other. So Saturday I moved the TV into Tyler's room and moved his TV into my room. Everything went smoothly except that the cable would not reconnect. I called in a ticket, but we have had numerous customer service issues with the company and who knows if they will ever come out and look at it. So for the moment I am stuck watching DVDs. It hasn't been too bad except that I could not watch the Closer last night.
Having a designated space has already been very beneficial, and no TV has encouraged me to focus more on my studies. I'm even becoming more consistent with my scripture and church study and writing in my journal. Honestly, if I didn't pay for cable as part of my HOA dues I would cancel it.

Food & Care Coalition

I volunteer once a month with the Food & Care Coalition through Kiwanis. I really enjoy going down and serving the meals, the clean-up not so much.

The Food & Care Coalition serves nutritionally well balanced meals 7 days a week to Utah County's homeless, mentally ill and learning disabled, fixed income families, and families affected by tragedy. The Coalition is funded through private donations, not the government. Last year they were able to move into a new building down by the post office in East Bay, Provo. The main floor consists of a dining room, kitchen, laundry, barber, showers, administrative offices, learning rooms, and a dental clinic. Volunteers provide dental and hair care along with serving the meals. The second floor is unfinished and when completed will provide shelter for the homeless.

The Coalition is participating in Pepsi’s ReFresh Challenge for a grant of $225,000. This grant would be enough money to complete the second floor and provide shelter for the homeless. You can help by voting each day. The Coalition is currently in 75th place. You can vote three ways each day:

1.Text – Add Pepsi as a contact with 73774 as the phone number. Text 105571 to Pepsi everyday throughout January

2.Facebook – Go to facebook.com and search “Pepsi Refresh Voting App”. Cliick “Go to App”, Click “allow”, then “like”. Click tab “Pepsi Refresh…”, clikc on “support ideas on Facebook”. Search “Friends of the Coalition”, “Vote for this idea”, “Confirm”

3.Website – visit refresheverything.com, In lower right left, sign-in, In the upper right, search “Friends of the Coalition”, Vote for this idea

Please help the coalition to achieve success. You can find out more information about volunteering and donations at their website https://foodandcare.org/index.php.

Dinner and a Movie

Michael, David, and I went to see Tangled on New Years Eve followed by hamburgers and fries at Red Robin. We had a great time together and was pleasantly surprised with Tangled. Turned out a lot cuter than I thought it would be from the previews. Plus, Michael has me hooked on the Banzai burger at Red Robin. Who can resist that?
