Thanksgiving

We had a great Thanksgiving meal with lots of food. I tried not to load up my plate but with only a little of everything it was still a lot. We enjoyed being together snacking, cooking, and eating. Of course everyone deserted me when it came time to clean the kitchen. Amy really liked the cheese ball without the crackers. She got into trouble for loading a cracker with cheese so of course I had to load one up and take it to her. That's what aunts for for.

Barefoot Contessa Chocolate Cheesecake

I had seen Barefoot Contessa make a cheesecake a few weeks ago and it looked delicious so I thought I would give it a try. Kirsten helped me and it looked wonderful when I took it out of the oven to let it cool. You are supposed to leave it in the oven with the door open for an hour to cool, but it was Thanksgiving and we needed the oven for other things. Yes, all was looking great until Kristina showed up and wanted to make her cranberries. All of a sudden a burning stench was drifting through the kitchen. Kristina had turned on the wrong burner and burnt the bottom of the cheesecake. The crust was black. The upper part still tasted good. I will have to try it again sometime. Stay out of the kitchen Schnitzel!

Scott Stayed the Night

Because of his allergies to anything which moves, in this instance "Whiskers" Scott stayed the night at our home. We do not have a pet since Tyler's hamster (rodent) died and I do not want another one. Scott is really cute and stayed up until 11 p.m. watching cartoons. He had to watch Batman and then The Clone Wars. Tyler and I both went to bed before then. I would get back up at 11 and turn the TV off but of course Scott didn't want to go sleep. The second night he came in my room and said he was scared so I let him sleep with me. Needless to say, he sleeps in the middle of the bed and I didn't get any sleep. I finally went out on the futon. He doesn't have any problems getting up in the morning. Wakes right up and is ready to go. It takes me a little longer so it was nice that Tyler could drive him back over to Oma's. He also enjoyed playing video games with Tyler. Of course it was the Star Wars game. We loved having him over. Hopefully, Whiskers stays around a little longer.

Grandpa's Birthday

Kirsten and her family arrived from Texas, just in time to celebrate Grandpa's birthday. We decided to get him "Are you being served?" which is a British comedy. We found it for $200 at FYE knew we could get it for less online but decided to check out Barnes & Noble. They had it for $75 the complete series so we were pretty excited. FYE is ridiculously overpriced. We all enjoyed eating ice-cream cake. We of course had to have chocolate milk for Scott and got Samantha the new Tinker Bell movie, which is really cute.

BYU vs. Air Force

Tyler went to Colorado for Emily's baptism so I was stuck going to the BYU game with David. Despite the fact it was cold, there is a young, immature girl who sits behind them and shoves her knees into your back (luckily her husband got sick and they left early with their tupperware)we had a good time and BYU won. David wanted to eat at Sizzler so we stopped by after the game. I decided not to eat as I had a ballet event at the Marriott that night. Michael was going to go with me but he bailed on me again. Thanks a lot Michael!

Disney on Ice Cont.

Disney on Ice

We went last week to Disney on Ice. It was a lot of fun and the costumes were beautiful. Kate looked beautiful in her Belle costume. Unfortunately, she had a doctor's appointment that day and it wiped her out. She was exhausted and just wanted to go home and sleep.
