Disneyland

Disneyland - The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly

We were so excited for our trip this year to Disneyland and really looking forward to it. We even had an extra day in the park for David's birthday on the 13th. We had a good first day and went to dinner at the RainForest Cafe on the district. Tyler had not been feeling well, even before the trip and after dinner he got severe abdominal pains and couldn't walk. We ended up in the emergency room. The facility where the ambulance took us was horrible. We thought we had left the border. It was filthy. I was scared to use the restroom, which looked like it had never been cleaned. When we arrived they tooked Ty's vitals and then put him out in the waiting room (A few metal chairs) for five hours. When we finally got back to see the doctor we told him we thought it might be his gall bladder but he laughed that off. He didn't know what it was and just gave Ty some pain meds and fluids. He ordered an EKG and some blood work. No idea why or what he thought that was going to do. The staff and doctor were so incompetent.
We had a good time revisiting all our favorite rides and places to eat. We enjoyed the tri-tip at Ariel's Grotto and the Monte Christo at the Blue Bayou. Tyler was not feeling well so didn't eat much because it kept making him sick. He had to go back to the hotel each afternoon for @ 4-5 hours to sleep. We loved Peter Pan and all the Halloween decorations (my favorite holiday), Pirates of the Caribbean, the Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, etc. We got some cute photos with the characters in their costumes and of course whent shopping.
We went to Universal on Friday because we wanted my mom to see the backlot tour. Ty's camera was stolen within the first hour of our visit which put a little damper on the day and our trip. He got the camera for his birthday and it took really good night pictures. He was really excited for some of the pictures he had taken. Oh well, there is not anything you can do and none of us were at fault. We didn't steal the camera. We purchased him another one, same model, last night and he will be able to take more pictures.
Although there were some unfortunate and out of our control hiccups on this trip, we still love going to Disneyland and enjoy getting away. We are planning our next trip to DisneyWorld after Tyler's mission.
We feel blessed that everything has worked out and it could have been much worse. We were fortunate that Tyler did not require surgery and was able to make it home. We have scheduled an appointment with a doctor and hope to get him in to see an internal specialist. We are praying we can discover what has been afflicting him for the last couple of years and hope he will begin feeling better soon.

Painting

Michael and I decided to paint the ceiling in the kitchen for my mom and put up the new light fixtures. My mom wanted us to wait until we got back from Disneyland, but you know I cannot do that. Michael abandoned me after taking down the light fixtures to go get his hair cut. Yes, he needed it but I had to paint the ceiling by MYSELF. When he got home he put up the new fixtures. It looks really good. My camera has been in my other purse so I haven't taken any pictures of anything lately.

I also got around to decorating for Halloween. Mutti's living room is decorated and looks great. Mine doesn't look as cute. I will have to take pictures.

Homecoming

Saturday was also Homecoming. Tyler and his friend decided to have their dates over and for me to cook again. After the tournament I stopped by the Flower Basket and the market for a few additional items. I then raced home and tried to get everything ready. It all took longer than expected and I was a little late with the food and didn't get to take any pictures or video. I made shrimp lettuce wraps, which were really good but hot. I forgot to wear gloves again while cutting up the Serano peppers and my fingers burned all night. I then made caprese with fresh basil from my garden. Grilled steak on the stove and smoked everyone out. Red mashed potatoes with fresh rosemary and chives from my garden and roasted carrots. I made a dessert I saw last week on Rachel Ray which I thought was really good. I crushed butter cookies and put fresh raspberries on top. Then you make a mousse out of whipping cream and Nutella. I thought it was yummy. I didn't try the steak but Tyler said it was really good and loved the entire meal. Needless to say I was so exhaustd afterwards that I slept in on Sunday until 5:00 p.m. Sure sign that I am getting old.

TaeKwondo Tournament

Tyler competed in his first tournament on Saturday and did really well. He got third in forms and first in sparring. He really had to work hard to win sparring and won the final round by only one point. So excited for him. I got it all on video so no pictures of forms or sparring.

Owlz

Went to an Owlz game with Kiwanis. Stayed for almost the entire game. I know - impressive. The owlz won.
